On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror #5) by Karina Halle
★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆
GOODREADS SUMMARY: When the life you wanted has crumbled beneath your fingers, there’s nothing left to do but pick up the pieces and soldier on. You’ve done this before.
But what happens when you no longer feel like yourself anymore? When fires spontaneously start-up around you, when you hear growling coming from underneath your bed, and you no longer recognize your face in the mirror. What happens then?
Ghost-hunter Perry Palomino doesn’t have much time to find out. Now, the evil she used to hunt is a lot closer to home. It’s inside of her, taking over her life bit-by-terrifying bit, and there’s only one person who can help her.

I seriously want to punch myself in the face for saying this, but I wasn’t completely in love with this book. I mean, I’m a HUGE Perry Palomino fan and couldn’t wait for On Demon Wings to come out, but I wish there was more of a plot within the book. It didn’t even really further the overall story aside from confirming the identity of Pippa and ushering back in Dex “to save the day” without actually having to explain or apologize for his actions in Lying Season. Yes, I get it. I’m a Dex hater.
I love Perry’s character when she’s stronger, though, and this just wasn’t an example of it (for obvious reasons). I didn’t really get the tie-ins with the ghost and the baby – and maybe that will come in future books, but I would like to have more questions answered when I finish a book.
Of course I’m a huge fan of the series and love Halle’s writing, so the worst she could do was three stars. I know. I’m rough. Can’t wait to read the next one, though!
